STUDY GUIDE
How to Work Through Each Unit

 
 

This section provides the steps you need to follow to complete each unit.

Navigation

On each page you will see:

  • words in red at the top of the page. These tell you where you are in the resource.
  • arrows at the top and bottom of the page. Use these arrows to move through the unit.
  • a box between the arrows. This takes you back to the unit contents page.

Follow these steps in each unit:

  1. Read the Resource Overview to find out what you will do in the unit.

  2. From the Resource Menu, choose the Lessons link for the unit. You will see the Unit Contents page.

  3. Click on “Introduction”. This takes you to the introduction to the unit.

  4. Read the objectives of the unit.

  5. Use the arrows to continue through the following sections of the unit:
    • Vocabulary — In this section you will learn important vocabulary for the unit. Each picture illustrates the vocabulary words. The pictures have numbers, and the numbers are under or beside the pictures, followed by a list of words. There are exercises for each set of pictures.
    • Conversation — Use the arrows to listen to the dialogue. The Audio Dialogue gives you examples of the vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structures you will learn in the unit. If you want to see the words of the dialogue, click "Show Text."
    • Lesson 1 — This lesson teaches you important words and phrases for the unit. Read Lesson 1, then follow the instructions for each of the exercises. The exercises check your understanding of the words and phrases.
    • Lesson 2 — This lesson teaches you important grammar. Read the lessons and then do the Comprehension Questions and Practice Exercises. The Comprehension Questions will help you understand the concepts in the unit. They have explanations for each answer. The Practice Exercises will help you practice the concepts in the unit.
    • Lesson 3 — This lesson teaches you different sentence structures. Read the lesson, then do the Comprehension Questions and the Practice Exercises
    • Error Correction — This activity reviews concepts you learned in the unit lessons. Follow the instructions at the top of the page.
    • Review Practice Activity — This activity reviews concepts you learned in the unit lessons. Follow the instructions at the top of the page.
    • Reference Tools links — Review the Reference Tools listed on the Reference Tools for extra information.
