Definition
The future perfect describes an action that will be completed at a specific
time in the future, and before another action.
Example
Iris will have been gone
six months when she comes home next month.
Explanation
The future perfect:
- has the form will + have + past participle verb.
For example: He will have visited twenty-five
countries when he goes to Spain.
- describes actions that will be completed at a specific time in the
future.
For example: Barbara will have finished dinner
by the time we arrive.
- uses "not" in negative form.
For example: Barbara will not have finished dinner
by 6:00.
- describes what we think has happened in the present.
For example: It's Monday. Michelle will have arrived in
Costa Rica by now.
