Definition
Superlatives compare two or more nouns.
Example
Jill is the tallest student
in the class.
Explanation
Superlatives:
- show the noun that has the most of the quality of the adjective.
- add "est" to the end of adjectives with one syllable.
- use "most" before adjectives with more than one syllable.
- change "y" to "i" before adding "est".
- have irregular forms.
- double consonants if the word ends in consonant
+ vowel+ consonant.
- add "est" to the end of two-syllable words ending in "y".
