Using Time Transitions to Show Time Order

Time transitions are words such as: first, then, while, finally. In a process paragraph, these words tell the audience when to do something or when something happens. They show the order of the instructions and how each instruction connects with another instruction. Time transitions help the audience understand the instructions much more easily.

How to Boil an Egg
You can cook a perfectly boiled egg for breakfast if you follow these six easy steps. First, get a pot big enough to hold one egg. Then, fill the pot 4/5 full with water. Next, put the egg in the pot and put the pot on the stove. Turn the heat to high and wait for the water to boil. When the water is boiling, boil the egg in the water for three minutes. Take the egg out of the pot and put it in an eggcup. Now, enjoy your egg.

The concluding sentence "Now, enjoy your egg." tells the reader that the instructions have ended. It sometimes makes a positive comment to the reader.
